About us
The inspiration for GuidePath emerged from observing a visually impaired family member navigating curbs, staircases, uneven pavement, and crowded public spaces with limited warning of potential hazards.
Project Motivation
I remember the moment I caught my aunt as she nearly fell in a crowded parking lot. Recognizing her fear, I began to see the world through her blindness…
Problem Statement
Although traditional canes assist visually impaired users with basic navigation, they often offer limited environmental interpretation…
Hypothesis
A cutting-edge, multi-sensor mobility platform employing sensor fusion, terrain classification, and adaptive haptic feedback will…

About Models

The standard model will serve as the initial working model using a traditional white cane structure with an ultrasonic sensor, vibration motor, Arduino microcontroller, and battery pack. This model will detect nearby obstacles and warn the user through basic haptic feedback. For example, when the cane identifies an object in front of the user, the handle will vibrate. As the obstacle gets closer, the vibration will become stronger or faster. This version will be a step above a traditional white cane, providing more information than physical contact alone.
model Features
The GuidePath Smart Navigation Cane will be developed through an iterative process with three models: Standard, Advanced, and Pro, which we will call Essential (detection-focused), Navigator (adaptive understanding), and Guardian (AI-guided protection mobility companion).

Navigator
This advanced model will go beyond obstacle detection to recognize terrain-related hazards. Additional sensors will identify curbs, stairs, potholes, inclines, drop-offs, uneven pavement, and changes in elevation.

Guardian
The pro model represents the most advanced version, incorporating AI-assisted interpretation, Bluetooth connection, a mobile app, GPS navigation, emergency SOS, caregiver alerts, and an intelligent rolling base.
